About this deal

A good murder mystery, several potential perpetrators, gradually unfolding backstories to all of these people, some missteps and the usual shenanigans from the team and their dog. Here Dead We Lie' is a co-production between Mark Allen and Professor Mark Connelly and Dr Helen Brooks of the University of Kent. I have enjoyed all that I have now read to date, a few were pretty gruesome, but watching Logan and the team, and even Hoon makes for some very entertaining reading. The relationship between Logan and DC Neish is almost father and son like and Logan shows a lot of tolerance.

In the three years since he investigated his first murder, Sebastian’s life has undergone significant change. How do you explain a world that gifts evil men with privilege and wealth and looks the other way while they torment and abuse the weakest members of society?Cyr, Viscount Devlin, and his former comrade in arms, surgeon Paul Gibson, have seen more than their share of violent death in wartime. This amount includes seller specified domestic postage charges as well as applicable international postage, dispatch, and other fees. Speaking of things not making sense, the perpetrator didn't make sense to me either - they didn't really strike me as the type to do the things that they did and I feel like we didn't get as much background information on them compared to other perpetrators within this series. But they are all homeless street children, and the authorities are not interested in following up on their deaths. I always love revisiting these books in audiobook format for two reasons: 1) I love the books and the characters and, 2) Davina Porter always does an excellent job.

Massive thanks to Little Tiger Press for sending me a copy of this absolutely stunning book; isn’t the cover just beautiful! Dabei gibt es von Anfang an zahlreiche Spuren, die in die richtige Richtung deuten, die aber nur rückblickend zu sehen waren. You will miss jokes, relationships that developed years (books) earlier and generally things might seem a bit jagged due to missing pieces.Recordings of the poetry have been made by members of Dover Youth Theatre, and the soundscape has been designed by film-maker and Ross Barnwell. There are other events in the personal lives of both Sebastian and Hero that I expect will play out in future books. Always thought provoking, always managing to capture the historical atmosphere, yet sending a stinging rebuke to the present-day society in the process, and always, always, deeply compelling and absorbing! One such establishment is owned by dwarf twin sisters, who cater for everyone – almost – they do draw the line and will blackball a client.

The trio have worked together since 2019 to develop this exhibition, building on work that Brooks and Connelly undertook throughout the centenary of the Great War as leads on the Gateways to the First World War project, hosted by the University of Kent.Few in authority care about a street urchin's fate, but Sebastian refuses to let this killer go unpunished. A second girl goes missing in similar circumstances so what starts as a murder investigations quickly becomes a race against the clock. I really enjoyed the book for the most part, although I missed Shona, she did not show that much in this one. Every time I hear a new DCI Jack Logan book is coming out my first thought is YAY then I worry… will they still be good.

Sebastian’s investigations take him to people who fence goods that children steal, places where children hang around, looking for a likely target for a handkerchief or pocket watch, and the whorehouses where men with extreme tastes are likely to visit. Accompanying the exhibition is an audio soundscape, drawing on the images of the exhibition and connecting these to the lesser-known poetry of the Great War. DC Tyler Neish is back in trouble as always along with his very pregnant co-worker who also happens to be his wife. DCI Jack Logan and his team manage to p*ss everyone off in this book while trying to solve a murder, in a town that seemingly just doesn’t want it to be solved. With eleven books already available, I wasn’t going to be able to catch up on them all in print, so, as I often do in such cases, I turned to the audiobook editions instead, and have been catching up with Sebastian’s adventures that way, and enjoying them hugely.Flying into New York to spend the Summer with her Aunt Sadie, Mia hopes to leave her worries behind and have some fun with her friend Tamara working to make money for their road trip, but all that changes when she meets Rav. The accent/dialect added a lot of color but was difficult enough that I acquired the Kindle version of the book and stopped listening to the Audible version. But there were other wonderful, quietly emotional moments between various characters that served as welcome oases set amid the darkness.
