Many thanks to the chef/author for including so many "comfort" dishes that would normally be no go for dieters. More ingredients bought just to use cupboard space, for minimal extra calories why not use good organic honey, will try the recipes just to fool friends, glad its only on my kindle. So far what I have made has been tasty and filling (lot of corgettes), but personally I find some of the recipes not complicated but fiddly, too many ingredients in some, but this is maybe because I am trying the recipes for the first time so I’m continually checking the page to see if I am doing it right, which with the one layer lasagne I obviously didn’t because the amount of liquid in the dish I had left in the dish, no no no no I definitely didn’t get that right no idea courgettes dripped out water. Now Tom is turning his attention to helping food-lovers who have chosen a lower-calorie diet as their own route to weight-loss . Similar to Ton's story from the book I turned 40 recently and wasn't too happy with the way I looked and I have been trying for the last couple of months to get down to my ideal body weight which means losing 2-3 stone. I have currently cooked around 10 recipes from this book, completely out of my comfort zone and it has been a success in almost all cases. The focus is on the food that we can and should be eating to lose weight, which is easy to make and won't make you feel as though you are missing out .It’s impossible to stick to a diet if the food you’re expected to eat is boring and doesn’t fill you up. I've skimmed the kindle version i bought for a quick overview and like this very sensible approach to trying to lose weight but without sacrificing flavour, and still having a reasonable size portion.

Tasty and interesting recipes, full of flavour, for low calorie food, they are delicious, some of the recipes do take a time to complete but are well worth the wait, there are also some quick dishes if you don't have a lot of time, there are clever swaps to use less calories. I have tried a few of the Breakfast Meals so far, in particular, the "Overnight Porridge and Berry Compote" and the Cajun Scrambled Eggs and they are super tasty, and the best part of these meals even though its only breakfast, You Don't Feel Hungry an hour later which has stopped me from wanting to snack between meals. I like Tom and his usually unpretentious recipes, we watched the accompanying TV programme and bought the book, as, for health reasons, I need some food with flavour, as chemotherapy has numbed mine, but agave and yuzo!

It might seem a little weird to add a cookery book to "favourites" and "would read again" but this is for sure one of my favorite books to DATE.
