About this deal

I found myself wanting to know more about the origins of these stories first published in the early 19th century in Germany by the brothers Grimm.

The book is in good condition for its age other than some minor signs of wear mainly to the lower spine cover; a delightful addition to any library!By using the Web site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions.

If you want your children to be stronger adults, or if you are an adult who wants some perspective, I highly recommend this book.

However, my fans insisted that I was yet again missing out on something that every child should know. It is hardly surprising, then, that the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm would bewitch his imagination both as a storyteller and as a philosopher of storytelling. If payment is made using a credit card, your credit card account is debited in conjunction with the conclusion of the contract. Here, in this superbly illustrated version aimed at younger children, there are also less familiar tales: King Thrushbeard and The Goose Girl.

These tales could be seen as moral lessons because they reward honesty, beauty, kindness and industry, and punish greed, laziness and dishonesty and so on. What emerges is a dialogue — an embrace, even — between the sharp outer edges of the stories and their interior sensitivity, bespeaking their dimensional enchantment. Biography: Ruth Brocklehurst (Author) When she wasn't riding her bike or making things out of loo rolls and scraps of fabric, Ruth spent her childhood reading about detectives and historical figures. One of the Four Great Chinese novels, and a worldwide cultural phenomenon, Monkey is reimagined as a Folio edition with exquisite artwork by Mu Pan, including a foldout map, and a new introduction by Frances Wood.com affiliate programs, designed to provide a means for sites to earn commissions by linking to books. Stories include; The Frog Prince, Rapunzel, Hansel and Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood, The Bremen Town Musicians, Tom Thumb, The Elves and the Shoemaker, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Rumpelstiltskin, The Goose Girl, The Bear and the Wren, The Twelve Dancing Princesses and Snow White and Rose Red. But if being a financially independent young woman and female entrepreneur in the early 20th century wasn’t already daring enough, in 1923 Gág — who had just been given a one-woman exhibition by the New York Public Library, more than twenty years before Georgia O’Keeffe’s MoMA retrospective prompted the press to hail her as “America’s first female artist” — decided to give up commercial illustration and try making a living solely by her art. Two hundred years ago, the Brothers Grimm published their famous collection of folk tales, including these thirty much-loved stories of helpful elves; giants who can see into the next land; foolish but good-hearted lads; princesses with golden hair; faithful servants and wicked queens.
