About this deal

Fenella Fielding seems like a terribly nice person from this, but to be fair not much of note happened in her admirable career to really warrant a biography. Avoiding the present tense places more "distance" between the speaker and whatever he's talking about, which is a common feature of "deferential" statements/requests.

In the simple present, you cannot use either the past or future tense for verbs that follow the word mind. Would you mind if I smoked here= simple future tense question using conditional tense form of smoke. In this case both forms are used by native speakers, and there may well be a difference in the nuance of meaning between them. I tried to wait a couple days to see if I would feel better about Jenny’s sign, but I just couldn’t help myself.is the astonishing and often hilarious life story of a national treasure, told for the first time in a special edition hardback book, published on the eve of actress Fenella Fielding's 90th birthday. This way of writing comes across as more Fenella, more authentic than a chronological description of events, because she was a great raconteur. She reminds me of the great raconteur Quentin Crisp - the same love of language, mastery of its rhythms, perfectly formed sentences, and a joie de vivre even when relating her profound despair. If it's a conditional, then how come it's not as idiomatic to say "If I smoked here, would you mind? Her breakthrough as an actor came in Sandy Wilson's musical "Valmouth", after which she starred in Harold Pinter's revue "Pieces of Eight", alongside Kenneth Williams, a partnership reprised most famously when she played the Vampirish Valeria in "Carry On Screaming" (1966).

I now believe this item is out of print and may not be reprinted, so its unlikely this seller has any of tese books to sell, even though it is still listed as being available. LV4-26 has raised the interesting question that would you mind if I smoked could be an entirely hypothetical question. If you are in Australia or New Zealand (DVD Region 4), note that almost all DVDs distributed in the UK by the BBC and 2entertain are encoded for both Region 2 and Region 4. That same night I drove back to the Café with two gallons of gasoline, a few old rags, and a box of matches. In the later sentence, speaker is indicating though he/she does not think he/she is going to smoke but what if he/she does? While this doesn’t exactly make for great literature, it oddly does add to her charm and gives a real sense of Fenella falling somewhat naïvely through a wondrous acting life that encompassed everything from a starring role Hedda Gabler to: Carry On Screaming, The Morecambe and Wise Show, and The Prisoner. Much of the meaning and colour of such questions depends on the tone of voice and the manner of the speaker. I did listen to some of the audio version of this read by Fenella herself, which is much more enjoyable, and is perhaps the best way to experience her stories. Even if ordinarily I wouldn't mind, I'd be likely to either refuse permission or rant at whatever idiot asked for my indulgence in a context where it would seem he's going to smoke anyway, regardless of whether I mind or not. There may be an objection to the sequence of tenses, but it sounds perfectly alright to me, and I am surprised that only one forero has mentioned it up to now.

I want to be buried in a nice plush coffin with red velvet inside, with a giant white fluffy pillow to cradle my dead head. g., people who smoke or who do not smoke) are included and excluded as part of local community life. He told me that I couldn’t be out there that late, and I said no problem, because I was just leaving. I couldn’t think of anything but that stupid sign made by a moron sign maker for a dullard café owner.Having been delighted by her work on stage and screen, radio and recordings for my whole life, I really enjoyed these reminiscences. However, this is not really a crafted biography/autobiography (which is what I expected) but actually transcripts of taped interviews that don't appear to be edited much at all. I was pleased to discover there is so much more to her than THAT red dress, and a tedious journey was made much more pleasurable by being in her company. Le design des bancs publics, les endroits où ils se trouvent, la façon dont ils sont utilisés et le sens qui leur est attribué peuvent nous renseigner sur les pratiques liées à la santé (p. So if you want to make a question out of a conditional construction, you use subject auxiliary inversion of the matrix clause: Would you mind if I smoked?
