About this deal

She is the founder of Open Hearts in a Closed World Ministry and Conference and is involved in women’s ministry at her church.

I am not sure I would place this is my k-12 Christian school library unless it came to my attention that we had a secondary female student who suffered from a chronic illness. In Chronic Love, Brooke Bartz reveals a deeply raw and descriptive account of life with a chronic and debilitating illness, and she shares with readers how comfort and strength can be found through the Truth in God's Word. I highly Recommend this book to anyone who suffers from chronic illness, knows someone who does, or anyone who would like to be encouraged by the rich theology and inspirational words that can be found in this book. It wasn’t until this year that I truly accepted that despite treatments, beaucoup medications, and natural remedies, my body was not going to get better in the physical sense.Having “invisible” disabilities makes life more challenging because people assume you are well and don’t understand why you can’t do things or go places. Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh, I am filling up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church.

As for the theology presented, and in an effort to discredit it by a few reviewers, I am saddened (and somewhat disturbed) that so many haven't learned yet, or are not willing to accept the amazing comfort of the theology of affliction, let alone the character of God revealed in scripture. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255. Brooke Bartz is a stay-at-home wife and mom who lives daily with a chronic disease, knowing firsthand the daunting, gnawing physical and spiritual pain it causes. I began reading “Chronic Love” by Brooke Bartz because I have suffered over the past 4 years with Chronic illness/disability which has made me want to give up and has tested my faith many times. At the end of each chapter are detail and main idea questions about the chapter’s contents as well as a prayer. So, don't trust your feelings, embrace what Scripture says and what this author stays consistent to and enjoy these abiding truths.

The necessity of trusting in the sovereignty of God is made clear, yet, the comforting love of God is also evident. If you or a loved one suffer from chronic illness or are a caregiver for someone who does, “Chronic Love” will minister to your heart and soul and give you strength for the journey. What about Hebrews 12:6 "FOR THOSE WHOM THE LORD LOVES HE DISCIPLINES, AND HE SCOURGES EVERY SON WHOM HE RECEIVES. I can keep going on and on about this amazing book, but you get the idea of the meaning behind this book, as well as how helpful it will be to everyone reading it. On the other end of the spectrum are those who blame you for your illness and insist that you are sick because your faith is not strong enough or because God is angry with you. CLC is a community that started on Instagram in 2017, with the vision that with love and support for one another, together we can get through the hard times with chronic illness and disabilities. I have lived with MS for 20 years and Brooke’s book touched me and hit me hard just knowing I’m not alone.
