About this deal

The ending was a bit of a surprise, and too rushed but definitely has me intrigued and happy to read on in the series. P Beswick went full time as an author, he looks forward to sharing more of his enchanting tales with his readers. But after witnessing her siblings' cruel deaths, she unleashes her powers for the first time and makes her escape. How the horse, and the two female characters, are not dead from exhaustion and hyperthermia, I don't know.

The story revolves around two characters who initially have separate stories but eventually come together. I tried to give this second book a chance after listening to the first one but I found myself genuinely uninterested in finishing it.With that being stated, the last quarter of the book felt too rushed and despite a good amount of buildup towards it, the ending felt unsatisfying and a bit brief.

Plus like many people have said Michela Schulthies voice work definitely falls short alongside Aaron Smith's. A horse that 'bucks' twice in fifty pages without unseating its novice rider, and eats nothing but apples. There were a few subversive plot twists I quite liked, although I was a bit sad that certain characters didn't get to realise certain dreams. I feel like there was too much rushing taking place - some of the more intriguing scenes didn't get the attention to detail they were deserving of.

I could barely follow the characters on their adventure because of all the deaths, I mean people were dropping like flies.

Beswick's writing is similar to the first book in that it's simple, easy to access, cliché in places, but will surprise you with poignancy at times.

Adding to that the plot kept me reading and the fantasy scenes (cough - skeletons, sea creatures etc) carried their share of clarity which is a big plus for me.
